Devotion 05 Rev. Samuel N. Modise 2013
Psalm 35:9 “Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in his salvation”. Extra Reading: Psalm 35:1-9
There are a lot of negatives around us in the world where God has placed us. But we need to be thankful that God is good. When labour unions mobilize workers for massive strikes and stayaways, and our country’s economy seem to be headed for a big plunge into a crisis, we can look forward hopefully because of one thing-knowing that God is good. When the devil may throw many people into doom and gloom, and hopelessness, we can know that God is good, and will pull us out of the mess. God is never surprised by human evil.
The psalmist knew this too. He went through intense opposition. It seemed to him as though the whole world was against him. But he knew that God has not left him alone. He was assured of the love and protection of God. He knew that he is serving a good God.
Perhaps you now find yourself in a sort of depression, gloom, worry, or pickle, remember that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will never leave you or forsake you. He is still a good God. Now, renew your soul at the fountain of the Lord’s goodness. He is good in nature. He is good in history. He is good in our lives. He is good to us throughout all seasons of the year. He is good all the time!
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you that you are a good Saviour. Thank you for through crises with us. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
