God’s protection over us

Psalm 121:1-2 “I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Extra Reading: Psalm 121:1-8.

We serve a God who wants to keep us safe at all times. He knows that we are in an imperfect world where crime, fear and sin are rife. Our protection is directly related to the character, competence and capability of our protector. The Lord is unsurpassed in all areas. The maker of heaven and earth is our personal protector. He never sleeps and turns his attention from us. We walk securely because he guards our every step. The Bible says, “He will protect his godly ones, but the wicked will perish in darkness. No one will succeed by strength alone” (1 Samuel 2:9). The Word again says, “He will rescue you again and again so that no evil can touch you” (Job 5:9). Though troubles and threats will find us in this fallen, rebellious world, they are not a surprise to the Lord. He never tires of saving us.

The Lord is alert to the needs of his people, and his constant care for them and his awareness of the power and evil intent of their enemies, is amazing. How does the Lord protect me? You will ask me. In Exodus 14:13-14 God’s Word says, “Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand where you are and watch the Lord rescue you. The Egyptians that you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. You won’t have to lift a finger in your defense!” What a mighty promise from the Lord! Please know that when enemies come against us, they really come against the Lord. We are continually reminded that victory is assured when we let the Lord fight our battles. He can turn our enemies against each other so that they destroy themselves while we walk away unscathed. Believe in the Lord’s protection right now. He is protecting you and your family members.

The Lord says this to us through Joshua, “Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the Lord your God fights for you, just as he has promised” (Joshua 23:10). God guards us from the dangers that stalk us. God is a refuge, a shelter, and a place of safety from all threats. His promises shield us and inspire our faith and courage. May you experience the Lord’s protection always.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, may we be assured of your protection over our lives today. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
