Guard against contamination

Titus 1:15 “These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.”  NIV Bible

Extra Reading: Titus 1:1-15

I have observed that many people, by thinking along the same line all the time, become accustomed into the ways of thinking appropriate to that area of life. As God’s people we need constant and solid teaching from God’s Word, so that we may see life the way God sees it. When Paul addressed Titus on focusing on positive and healthy matters, he knew that the world of his time was bedeviled with filth. Paul was speaking as a changed man of God. He knew the power of the grace of God to cleanse, to renew and heal the inner being. So he both challenged and warned Titus to be prepared for what was facing him on the island.

He was simply saying to Titus, “Let your mind be clean”.  When you are tempted to dwell on dirty thoughts, you have to consciously direct your thinking on pure, good and wholesome things. Gear yourself to deliberately rise above the level of worldly mentality that tends to be taken for granted in some levels. Remember that you will always be attacked for standing on the truth in this world. Paul says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5 KJV). Please fill yours with good thoughts, pure thoughts, wise thoughts, with kind and generous ideas. Brothers and sisters, God wants us to cultivate a wholesome mindset.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, fill my mind with things that are lovely and of good report. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
