Praying for our lost loved ones-Part 1

2 Corinthians 4:3, 4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” NIV Bible

Extra Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:1-17

A businessman was asked by his colleague who is a consultant, “What is your purpose in life?” He then replied, “To go to heaven and take as many people with me as I can.” I thought to myself this is powerful indeed. You can imagine if every Christian understood their purpose on earth. The whole world would have been reached with the gospel of salvation, and we would have gone to heaven already! The Bible clearly tells us that there is a veil that keeps unbelievers from clearly understanding the gospel and repenting. From the verses we have just read a few minutes ago, Paul says that the gospel is veiled to those who are perishing because the god of this world has blinded their minds. Many unbelievers do not really understand how the devil operates in this world. Satan’s goal is to hide the truth of the gospel in order to keep unbelievers in his evil grasp, just like an animal trapped in a net. The question we need to ask ourselves as those who have seen the light is, “Should we fold our arms and say well they will find their way out one day?” It is never going to happen until we take radical steps to free them.

Satan has hidden the truth of the gospel to unbelievers in this way:

-to dull the intellect; dull the unbeliever’s thinking.

-he has blinded the minds of the unbelievers.

-he has made people to become high-minded, proud or inflated with self-conceit.

-he has made people to become puffed up.

-he caused people to be self-serving and preserving.

-he has influenced many to rely on human plans and methods.

-people have become rebellious against God.

-some boast of worldly knowledge and information to make it in life.

We can’t throw our arms in the air and say that there is nothing we can do. God relies on His church, the body of Christ, to intercede for the freedom and release of unbelievers from the clutches of Satan. Hell is not a cool place to be. It is extremely hot and dangerous out there!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, burden our hearts to pray for the release of our lost loved ones. In Jesus’ name we declare their salvation found in His name, Amen!
