Don’t judge a book by its cover
I’ve walked here daily, Father… I know how hard this road is… full of stones… compacted by vehicles. No spade will easily dig a hole here… and yet, You are showing me something today… don’t judge a book on its cover… yes… “stop judging people’s way of living… their actions… their words… if you haven’t walked in their shoes for a while… if you weren’t part of their conversations with Me.. if you don’t know what I am busy doing in their hearts.” And I have to repent, Father… although I try so hard not to speak words of criticism and judgmentalism… the thoughts run so easily through my mind… before I could even think your thoughts. Touch my eyes… to see what You see in very person… in every act and circumstance.
When I look at this soft granule of soil on this impenetrable surface… I realize that some people may seem hard-hearted… or don’t communicate easily… may have arrogant behaviour… but deep down inside is a soft heart… a heart filled with fear… a heart torn to pieces because ‘life happens”… yes… what I see on the outside is just a mask… hiding the pain and loneliness… afraid that someone will peek inside and see the vulnerability… for the enemy sold the lie… that it’s a shame… that it’s best to hide it… that the mask will let him cope… that the pain and shame will go away.
How sad, Father… for they are captives for the serpent… locked in the cage of fear and pride. Please help me to see their hearts… the hurt. Show me Your way… prompt me at Your perfect timing… put Your words in my mouth… and let Your love… yes… Your healing flow through me… for You’ve called me to set the captives free…
