Satan’s oldest lie

Deuteronomy 32:17, 18 “They sacrificed to demons who were not God, to gods whom they have not known, new gods who came lately, whom your fathers did not dread. You neglected the Rock who begot you, and forgot the God who gave you birth.

When preachers spoke about Satan being the father of lies, I could not believe it because I was still a ‘baby’ in the Lord. Now that I have grown in knowing Him I believe all that the say about Satan. Satan tried philosophies of this world to draw people away from God, and some people believed him. He also tried false religions and prophets to deceive many, and yet they believed him. This time he uses New Age Movement to spread his lies and makes many coverts that follow him. New Age Movement says, “You don’t need God; you are God. You don’t need to repent of your sins and depend on God to save you. Sin isn’t a problem; you just need to turn off your mind and tune in to the great cosmic oneness through harmonic convergence.” This the oldest lie of Satan: “You will be like God” (Genesis 3:5).

The hunger for knowledge and power has drawn away multitudes of people from God to seek guidance from mediums and spirits, fortunetelling, tarot cards, palm reading, astrology, magic charming, etc. We know of friends and relatives who are ignoring the God who loves them and wants to guide their lives, and are instead seeking light and peace in the kingdom of darkness. People need to know that true peace can only be found in Jesus Christ, not in the prince of darkness. We should not allow knowledge and power to lure us away from God. We will be foolish to do so. People who seek knowledge and power from the powers of darkness of this world, will greatly interfere with the work of God, deceiving many by the counterfeit forces they employ. We need a spirit of discernment to know and identify these false spirits and demonic forces.

Let the words of Deuteronomy 32:17, 18 sober us to the reality that even believers are vulnerable to being lured away from the knowledge and power of God by our enemy.

Prayer: Father God, help us to be sober and discerning to identify spirits that seek to draw us away from You. Help us in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
