Understanding the existence of demons-Part 3
Mark 9:17-18 “A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.” NIV Bible
Extra Reading: Mark 9:1-32
Because demons have supernatural knowledge men have attempted to get advance information from them about coming events; people consult evil spirits in fortune telling. Demons are represented as morally unclean (Matthew 10:1; Mark 1:27; Romans 6:13; Luke 8:27). They seem to have superhuman strength requiring several people to hold the demonized person. They cause dumbness, blindness, insanity, suicidal mania, etc. Let’s continue to have a closer look at the activity of demons:
Satan tries to be present everywhere at the same time, but actually he is limited to one geographical location at a time. Satan operates a well-organized multitude of demons (Daniel 7:19-20; Revelation 12:4, 7). Satan’s kingdom is not merely an uncoordinated mob (Matthew 12:26), but it is revealed as a highly systematized empire of evil, elaborately organized. Satan rules over fallen man with his government of pride, ambition, selfishness, force, greed, and pleasure (John 14:30; 18:36; Ephesians 2:2; 6:12; 1 John 2:15-17).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the defeat of Satan on the cross. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
